The Importance of Creativity in student’s Life

MY CONTENTION IS THAT CREATIVITY NOW IS AS IMPORTANT IN EDUCATION AS LITERACY, AND WE SHOULD TREAT IT WITH SAME STATUS” – SIR KEN ROBINSON
We all have the seeds of creativity in us which gives us freedom. It frees us from the shackles of reality and helps us to get into a world of our own; the world, where boundaries do not exist; a world where there is no one to tell us what to do and what is right for us. Creativity frees our soul and helps us to connect with our unconscious.
Creativity does not only mean painting exceptional pictures or making best- selling creations. No, it simply relates to a person’s imagination. When we draw a science diagram, when we make symbols to represent something in our maps, it is creativity. In fact, each and every subject supports creativity in its own unique way. As in English, imagining characters while reading, diving into the depths of the said character- seeing what our character sees and feeling what our character feels is creativity personified. In history, reading about civilizations instantly inspires us and we get fascinated by the architecture and art of the older times. We see how art affects human development and how reigns of different cultures brought a major difference in the present human life and art.
If we take the example of the legendary Mohenjo-Daro, we can see how without the help of any technology or any specific materials they built a place of perfect discipline and an architecture that would give goose bumps and fascination to no end.
Being an engineer and designing buildings or being a world famous fashion designer does not set up a milestone for your creativity. Even simple doodles behind your school notebook or painting the whole sheet black or just singing in an awful voice possible to create your own music are signs of creativity. When you play with words, when you create your own music, when you paint, when you hum or sing in your bathroom or when you dance in front of the mirror, you are being creative.
Creativity not only aids in better learning but also helps in divergent thinking. It helps us to express ourselves in better ways and create something that is both original and worthwhile.
